Happily Ever After

This is actually my shirt.  They are available at Union28.  My kids have ones that say My Dad Rocks.

Today is our anniversary!  It has been seventeen years of marriage!  As a child of divorce without the greatest male example, I just didn't really believe in the happily ever after.  I fell in love with my husband, and he put up with a lot of crap from me as I pleaded my independence and then became too dependent.  He has had a front row seat to the outcome of my wounds, but also the privilege of watching God's healing first hand.

Sometimes I am in awe of God in my family.  I really didn't deserve to be blessed with such a wonderful, Godly man...not perfect but definitely always striving for God's best.  He is an amazing father and husband.  I can truly say that I am happy!  We still have fun together and laugh a lot!  I didn't know that marriage could be so good!  I occasionally wait for the ball to drop...but that is a whole different blog...

Anyhow, I am not saying that it hasn't had challenges, but it has been worth every effort.  If you haven't experienced it or witnessed it, allow yourself to believe in it.  When two people are seeking Christ first, they really can experience happiness until the Lord calls them home.

Well, I don't look like I did seventeen years ago.  One scripture that I have always prayed over our marriage helps with my insecurity...

"May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth." Proverbs 5:18

Hi BB, Happy Anniversary! Love the shirt. I may check that out. Terry and I will celebrate 18 years in two weeks. Love that you and the children have these shirts for husband/dad. That just makes me smile. Hope you had a lovely celebration weekend. I have missed reading your blog while on hiatus. Still am, so no need to look for me on the blogs yet.
