Whineless Wednesday - I Waited

I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about the difference between my earthly father and my Heavenly One.  When I was a little girl I spent a lot of time waiting for my father to show up.  He was generally very late to get me on his weekend visitations and sometimes he would say he would be at an event and never show up.  I remember going to my first dance around seventh grade.  I can still remember exactly what I was wearing and how crazy poofy my hair was.  I can also remember the heartbreak that little girl felt as she waited and waited for her father to show up.  She went to the dance late, and he never arrived.  He later said he was sorry that he was purchasing tickets for a trip to Las Vegas, and it took longer at the travel agent.  Well, that wasn't the first nor the last time I waited to no avail...

For weeks I have been waiting on God to give me a topic to speak on this weekend coming up.  The thing about our Father is that His timing is perfect.  I have definitely had to wait on Him, but He ALWAYS shows up.  That is one thing this daughter is so thankful for!  My Heavenly Daddy is so reliable; He keeps His word.  I trust Him.  This Whineless Wednesday, instead of whining about waiting on God I am looking forward to the wine of His presence when He shows up.

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

That word wait in the Greek is qavah (6960).  It means waiting eagerly, hopefully, patiently, and expectantly.  If you are waiting on God for something, remember that He is faithful! He will keep His word! He will show up and when He does, it will be worth the wait!

I was blessed with a great earthly Dad. But I am so much more blessed with a Heavenly Father. Nice post. Wish I could hear you speak sometime. Have a blessed day...Chelle

Amen indeed that God always shows up at the right time with whatever he knows is best for us. I'm sure whatever topic he gives you for your talk this weekend will be well received by the group you are speaking to.

That is our Father. Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strenght.
Waiting on Him is worth the effort. Coz in HIm we can find everything:)

I don't know what is worse. Someone saying they will come and not showing up or saying they "have to work" all the time and not attending at all. BB, we have a similar history with earthly fathers. So happy we are adopted by our Heavenly Daddy who is always there. :)

Hugs,
Tammy

I'm not a very good wait person but life is so much of waiting. I liked reading your words on the differences and how much waiting on HIm is a good thing.
